Marble head of a young girl (Arktos)

Marble head of a young girl (arktos) from a votive statue. Childish face, braided hair on the top of the forehead, diadem on the head. Ears are covered by spiral curls. According to the archaeologist Semni Karouzou, this head belongs to the “blind arktos”, interpreting the lowered eyelids and the shallow eyeballs as an indication of blindness. Early 3rd century B.C.
